About Gemma
I’m Gemma Antcliffe, a BACP-registered counsellor based in Ripon. I work with people who are going through some of the hardest times of their lives – fertility struggles, anxiety, grief, low mood, relationship difficulties; and I consider it a privilege every time someone chooses to bring that to me.
I trained as a counsellor because I believe that having a space to be truly heard, without judgement or agenda, can change everything. Not fix everything, but change it. And sometimes that’s exactly what’s needed.
My path to becoming a counsellor wasn’t straightforward, and I think that’s part of what makes me good at this work.
I went through my own fertility journey, and there were times when I felt completely swept away, isolated and out of control, like time was running out. I know what it is to hold hope and heartbreak at the same time, to put on a brave face when you’re running on empty inside.
That experience shaped me. It deepened my empathy, sharpened my understanding of what people actually need when they’re struggling, and ultimately led me to specialise in fertility counselling alongside my broader counselling practice.
I’ve also volunteered with Mind, which gave me a profound insight into the breadth of human experience and the importance of accessible, non-judgmental support.
How I work
I work in a person-centred way, which means our sessions are led by you. There’s no fixed agenda, no homework, no pressure to feel better by a certain point. We go at your pace.
Sessions last 50 minutes and are available in person at my practice in Ripon, or online via video call; whichever feels right for you. Many clients find that starting online feels less daunting, and some choose to move to in-person sessions over time. Others stay online throughout. There’s no right or wrong.
A free 15-minute discovery call is available before you commit to anything. A relaxed conversation to ask questions and get a sense of whether we’d work well together.
Sessions are £70
